Editorial & Mathematical Verification Policy

Accuracy is the foundation of builder trust. This document outlines our mathematical verification protocol, source hierarchy, testing pipelines, and correction standards.

1. Three-Tier Calculation Verification Process

Before any calculator is registered in the public catalog, it must pass three independent validation tiers:

Tier 1: Geometric & Algebraic ProofThe mathematical formula is derived from standard geometric primitives (rectangular prism volume, cylinder volume, Pythagorean slope factors) and cross-checked against published civil engineering textbooks.
Tier 2: ASTM & Manufacturer Yield AlignmentPackaging yields (such as 0.60 cu ft per 80-lb concrete bag under ASTM C387, or 3 bundles per roofing square) are cross-referenced with active technical data sheets from major building material manufacturers.
Tier 3: Automated Golden Regression SuiteEvery calculation module is subjected to programmatic test assertions verifying edge-case inputs (large values, decimals, metric-imperial conversions, zero-thickness handling). Future platform deployments require 100% pass rates across all tests.

2. Source Hierarchy & Citations

We prioritize standards and codes in descending order:

  1. Statutory Building Codes: International Residential Code (IRC), International Building Code (IBC).
  2. Consensus Standard Organizations: American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), American Concrete Institute (ACI).
  3. Trade Associations: Tile Council of North America (TCNA), Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association (ARMA).
  4. University Engineering Extensions: Published agricultural and structural research papers from accredited institutions.

3. Commercial Independence & Advertising Separation

Calculator maintains strict separation between editorial content and advertising. Advertisers, affiliate partners, and material suppliers have zero influence over mathematical outputs, waste factor defaults, or packaging calculations. All advertising placements are clearly labeled and do not obstruct core calculator forms or results.

4. Correction & Changelog Policy

When an error is detected in a formula or published guide, our team immediately isolates the affected calculation, issues a code update with verified test coverage, and documents the resolution. To submit a technical correction, please use our contact form or email editorial@celculator.com.
